COVID-19 Screening for individuals

Why get tested?

Routine screening for active COVID-19 virus is becoming common place. Through regular and routine screening, asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic individuals can be found and shielded to prevent the risk of transmission in the community.

Many countries are now stipulating that travellers are to be screened prior to arrival. COVID-free travel tests and certificates now available.

Our next generation RT-qPCR test is the latest tool being used to tackle coronavirus. Testing can be accessed via home sampling kit, one of our test centres or via our clinical partners.

For most people it is important to know if you have had the virus, not just because you are naturally curious to find out, but because it is useful to know. Most people who have been infected with Coronavirus develop antibody response that affords them some level of protection.

Antibody tests are used to detect antibodies to the COVID-19 virus to see if you have previously had the virus. The test works by taking a blood sample and testing for the presence of antibodies to see if you have developed an immune response to the virus. Antibody tests differ to virus swab (PCR) tests, which test to see if you currently have the virus.

Access to throat and mouth swabs may not have been available to you at the time when you have encountered symptoms that you suspected may have been caused by the virus. Our dual diagnostic Antibody test is the only one of its kind in the global market today which detects both at IgG and IgM response and can confirm this definitively for you. "We expect that most people who are infected with covid-19

Will develop an antibody response that will provide some level of protection" - World Health Organisation

Am I Asymptomatic?

You may have had contact with someone and not developed any visible or palpable symptoms, yet still have been infected. Many people are believed to have been asymptomatically infected like this.

PCR screening is used to identify infection, even in asymptomatic individuals.

Taking the antibody test will give you either a negative or positive result for antibodies. This confirmation either way can help ease anxiety over doubt for some and provide routes back to work for others.

We pride ourselves on the quickest turnaround in the market. Results are typically provided within 24 hours from receipt in our Laboratory
